Ammarin Kuntawong

b. 1987, currently works and lives in Chiang Mai, Thailand

He graduated from Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna in Chiang Mai, where he studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts and Architecture. In addition to his career as a professional artist, Ammarin serves as a technical expert specializing in etching at C.A.P. Studio, a renowned artist-run printmaking studio in Chiang Mai that he has been a part of since its inception over a decade ago. Throughout his career, Ammarin has collaborated with many esteemed Thai artists and had the opportunity to work with artists from various countries, including the United States, Australia, Japan, and England. Ammarin's artistic practice is deeply influenced by his Lanna heritage. He creates captivating dream-like landscapes and cityscapes, reflecting his unique interpretation of the Lanna region's culture and environment. His work often combines elements of traditional Lanna aesthetics with imaginative, surreal imagery. Through his personal projects and participation in numerous exhibitions both in Thailand and internationally, Ammarin continues to explore and showcase the rich tapestry of his cultural background.


Kingdom of Memory

Kingdom of Memory draws on the precious memories of the artist’s childhood in northern Thailand, where the artist formed a deep connection with the region's old wooden houses, temples, stupas, and surrounding nature. These elements, rich in cultural and historical significance, have continually inspired the artist. Through this series, Ammarin captures the uniqueness of each place, reflecting the local identity and way of life. The work serves as a visual documentation that transports viewers back to a time of precious memories, preserving the essence of the artist’s roots.
