Terawat Teankaprasith

b. 1983, currently lives and works in Bangkok, Thailand

Terawat Teankaprasith is a multidisciplinary artist and commercial illustrator since 2000 offering a deep and unconventional approach to visual communication, specializing in illustrations, graphic design, and art direction. The focus lies in crafting in-depth spatial designs that weave together multi-dimensional perspectives, functionality, and imagination through unique illustrations and dynamic graphic thinking, ultimately delivering versatile end products. Born and raised in Thailand, Teankaprasith incorporates ancestral Thai know-how into his work by using hand- woven sun-dried water hyacinths as a key decoration for the windows; an homage to a beloved, locally woven toy from his childhood. Unveiled on 1st September at the Hermès stores in Bangkok and then at the Hermès store in Phuket, the window display created by Teankaprasith brings the Thai artist’s Masan & Masan scarf design from Hermès’ Autumn-Winter 21 collection to life in playful and inventive ways, making the first Hermès carré designed by a Thai artist the focal point of the installation.

The Ring

This labyrinth system echoes the growth rings of a tree, where each new ring marks the passing of a year. While each ring shares a similar form, it carries its own subtle variations—shaped by time, season, and circumstance. By connecting or severing the lines of these rings, the labyrinth expands—becoming larger, more intricate, and increasingly challenging. The continual addition of rings and pathways reflects the endless unfolding of nature and the passage of time. This work envisions the labyrinth as both a game and a journey: a passage through time, complexity, and endurance—mirroring the quiet yet persistent growth of a tree. Tree rings embody modularity in nature. Each ring functions as a distinct module with its own qualities, yet together they compose the greater whole—the living trunk, a record of survival and transformation.
